Strath Haven High School is a ninth through twelfth grade public high school serving the Township of Nether Providence and the Boroughs of Rose Valley, Rutledge and Swarthmore (in the Philadelphia suburbs). Most of the residents hold professional, executive, or semi-managerial positions in nearby communities. The average income level is medium-high. The total district population is 18,950. Strath Haven High School opened in September 1983, upon the consolidation of Nether Providence and Swarthmore High School. In June 1985 and again in June 2002, Strath Haven was selected by the United States Department of Education to receive the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. In 2001 the Pennsylvania Department of Education presented Strath Haven with the Secondary School of Distinction Award.
